Cervical Cancer
Education is a woman's best defense against all types of Cancer: "What you know about Cancer, Screening, and Prevention does make a difference."
Each year, about 15,000 women in the United States learn that they have cancer of the cervix. Cervical cancer is nearly 100 percent preventable. Experts agree that infection with certain strains of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is one of the strongest risk factors for cervical cancer, and that detection and treatment of the infection will eliminate the risk for cervical cancer. All women, and especially women who are past menopause (change of life), need to have regular Pap tests or screening test for the infection that causes cervical cancer.
